Stuff the Bus School Supplies Program

Each year, the Grove City Area United Way sponsors a "Stuff the Bus" drive.  The purpose of this drive is to obtain new school supplies, including backpacks and lunch boxes, for children in need who reside within the Grove City Area School District community.

Families must complete the Assistance Request form to be considered for the program.  Supplies are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is helpful to submit requests in a timely manner. Although we want to assist as many families as possible, there may not be enough supplies to meet all of the requests, so PLEASE submit your request as soon as possible.

The distribution process usually takes place the week prior to the first day of school.  Families requesting assistance will receive more information after a completed request is received. NOTE:  The fact that you submit the request form does not guarantee that we will be able to provide your children with school supplies.

Thank YOU!

Thank you to the volunteers and contributors that made it possible to meet all of the requested needs thus far
and have backpacks and supplies left over for next year as well!

Stuff the Bus local drives underway

The Grove City Area United Way is once again helping Grove City Area School District students whose families are in need return to school with the school supplies they need to succeed.  Since 2008, Grove City Area United Way has operated its Stuff the Bus program, providing over 900 brand new backpacks filled with school supplies to Grove City Area School district students whose families are financially unable to purchase these items themselves.

Local business and organizations are aiding in the United Way’s efforts this year.  After a very successful Stuff the Bus kick-off event held at Broad Street Yoga on July 30 where attendance at a special Sunday morning class was by donation only, drives are being held at the following locations:

  • Bashlin Industries (plant location) through August 4
  • Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce through August 11
  • Grove City Area Federal Credit Union (both locations) through August 11
  • Grove City Community Library: donations being accepted throughout the month of August with a special from August 14 – 18: Take a one day late fee off for EVERY item donated
  • Grove City Medical Center: collection sites in both the front and rear hospital lobbies, through August 11
  • Church of the Beloved Disciple through August 6
  • Farmers Bank through August 11

Donations can be dropped off at any of the above locations and will be delivered to the Grove City Area United Way which will distribute items to Grove City Area School District students.  Donation items must be brand new and can include: backpacks, calculators, portfolios/folders, three-ring binders, pencil boxes, colored pencils, scissors, pens, notebooks, pencils, glue sticks, markers, rulers, composition books, crayons, and loose leaf ruled paper.  Cash and checks will also be accepted.

When you are out shopping over the next couple of weeks, please take a moment to help a child in need.  Purchase a few extra school supplies and drop them off at a local business that is eager to help our community LIVE UNITED.
